大正から昭和初期にかけて活動した古賀春江による代表作「海」(1929年制作、東京国立近代美術館蔵)と「月花」(1926年制作、東京国立近代美術館蔵)からそれぞれ着想を得て制作された二点組のゼロサムネイル。古賀は、キュビスム、未来派、シュルレアリスムなどの20世紀の新しい潮流を次々と取り入れた。「海」は日本におけるシュルレアリスムの最も早い作品の一つとして知られる。「月花」は古賀がパウル・クレーに傾倒していた時期に描かれ明らかにその影響が窺える。作品タイトルから想像されるように、批評家でもある岡﨑は本作の制作にあたり古賀を分析したはずであり、古賀が感応したシュルレアリスムやクレーの思想に同時代のフロイトによる精神分析学が少なからず横たわっていることも見逃してはいないだろう。岡﨑はゼロサムネイルのシリーズにおいて巧みにコンテキストを操る。作品タイトルも連想ゲームのようにさまざまな学問や文化を繋ぐ学際的なアプローチが表れている。本作では古賀春江という画家を起点として100年前の美術動向とそれを支えた思想へ向かって、岡﨑のポエジーがのびやかに跳躍していく。
