In this work, Kwade refers to the “table” as a “painting.” A round table is placed within a mirrored space. However, walking around the work quickly reveals that the table is merely the appearance of a table reflected in the mirrors. Kwade’s works sometimes present unsettling parallels between existence and space. A painted image may be recognized as representing a table when looking at it, yet it is not the table itself. In this work, the same phenomenon occurs within the mirrored space. This “table” is a “painting.”
