Macarrón is known for painting invented characters based on people he encounters and streets that he sees in everyday life. Learning the method of recognizing and expressing phenomena from the preceding Spanish maestros such as Goya, Picasso, Dalí, and Miró, he translates everyday life into paintings. This work is painted with bright dayglow-based colors that Macarrón favors, and the abstraction seem to rule over figuration in the bold composition of the picture. Up close, one can see the carefully drawn characters one by one, as well as the dynamic texture. Facial expressions and poses are greatly exaggerated, and by observing the work and imagining the personality and story of each character, one can almost hear the bustle of the city Macarrón saw and imagined.
