In this work, metallic tin foil is encased in a blue acrylic box. The foil is shaped like a huge sheet that has been squeezed and contracted, creating a large fold of drape that reflects light in a complex manner. As the external lights emitted into the blue box, it works as a color filter, causing the foil from inside as well as the reflections on its surface appears to be blue. Reyle’s artworks attempt to develop from an abstract expressionist approach by applying a rather contemporary way of thinking and industrial materials. It is noteworthy that the spectacular presence of these objects that protrude prominently from the wall, and the richly textured three-dimensional structure of the foil have changed the limitations of painting by expanding the space of the canvas. On the off-white wall, the glowing blue light reflected by the shimmering light certainly catches one’s eyes. The irregular and random forms of the foil resonate with the philosophies of Action Painting and Chance Operation. These shapes go beyond the artist's consciousness and intentions while creating, and their simple and brilliant color composition requires the audience to observe from an abstract perspective.
