Lights of buildings at a distance are flickering in a foggy evening. This work features scenes devoid of human subjects, however implicit positively the presence of human activities. If light purple sky is the appearance of the gradually brightening sunrise, will the window lights and moonlight eventually disappear with the morning mist? In Delhomme’s advertisements and fashion illustrations as an illustrator, people are replicated as buzzing with, enjoying the richness of life. Compared to the liveliness of those illustrations, the quietness of this work depicts a stark contrast. However, Delhomme’s attitude remains consistent with the pureness and calmness of the subjects in his paintings.
