This work depicts a ladder as the title suggests. The entire piece is in an extremely long and narrow rectangular shape to match the red ladder that extends up and down. Ladder has been a motif for DIEGO’s previous works. Ladder is not only an indispensable tool for street artists, but it also gives an implication of climbing over and overcoming challenges for Diego. Street artists break through every barrier with ladders and draw silently in the darkness of the night. Their passion for creation is not expressed by voice, but rather by spraying paint onto the walls. “Ladder” means more than just a ladder; it also means social status. DIEGO, however, would not paint just to reach for the height of fame. Instead, if there are high walls that block their way, they would overcome and walk through another path to reach the other side of insatiable creativity.
