The circular canvas is superimposed with heavy layers of strokes in all directions. This work is from Kito’s recent signature series “cartwheel galaxy”. He has often incorporated primary colors in his previous works, with a basically bright coloration. Such contrast of brightness creates a sensation of color weight imbalance and is a characteristic of the artist. This work encompasses a paleness from a rather neutral color. The greenish loop-shaped strokes catch one’s attention the most, but perhaps due to the glitter effect it appears to be slightly white and bright. The numerous swirling lines on the entire base of the canvas are commonly seen in his previous works, but the unevenness in this work seems to capture light even more deeply and generate complex diffuse reflections on the painting. If one further turns the attention towards the middle of the complex layers, one can see various colors of pink, orange and aqua blue from the infinite bottom of the painting. When filled with different colors, visual distortions are created, and they are caused by the colors relatively obvious in the front and the colors from the back. This work is noteworthy because the artist seems to have ingeniously controlled over the color effects. Kito creates space with the use of color. If Kito refers to spatiality through painting, the fact that this work is in circular rather than a rectangular canvas also leads the viewer to relate the outer space that is considered to be expanding at an accelerated pace.
