Title: Black Raku Tea Bowl named “Omoshiroya”
Born in Kyoto in 1640, Raku Ichinyû IV was the eldest son of Raku Dônyû III and succeeded as the fourth head of the Raku family in the early Edo period. According to the Raku Museum, figurative motifs began to appear in Raku ware during his tenure, and the high-firing technique known as yakinuki also emerged around this time. He died in 1696.
