Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1990. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University Graduate School of Fine Arts and Design in 2016. Takayama’s works are created with a sense of animism. Instead of modern social structures, she returns to more primitive perspectives and reconsiders the relationship between animals, mankind, and the world. Takayama paints with detailed brushstrokes resembling embroidery or woven fabric. Her works are breathtaking, as if the details are alive and the whole surface seems to be squirming, especially the large works exceeding the size of the body.Takayama received the Grand Prize of Kamiyama Foundation Support Program Graduation Exhibition (2016), Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2016 (Shigeo Goto Award), Turner Ambassadors 2014, Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2014 (H.P. France Prize). She is a member of the artist collective “Pond Parnasse” together with Yusuke Asai, Erina Matsui, and Goro Murayama and she works with Asai as the artist unit “howra”. She is also a part-time lecturer at Tokyo Zokei University.
