KEISUKE KATSUKI

Gray; Noumena #6
Katsuki was born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan in 1991 and graduated from Tokyo Zokei University Graduate School of Fine Art and Design. Katsuki’s works are characterized by utilizing a unique technique called “Pixel Painting”, which has also been elaborated into multiple versions. “Pixel Painting” was made by using paint to imitate the mechanism of how a display on screen emits light. Pointillism techniques with RGB primary colors are arranged in patterns to form an image. Theoretically all tones can be reproduced interactively by arranging the colors. On the other hand, a corresponding series named “Gray” was created by mixing with the CMY colors. Katsuki is an artist who depicts colors themselves. He was the inner of the 15th Gunma Biennale for Young Artists in 2021 (Museum of Modern Art Gunma), the 32nd Holbein Scholarship (2017) and Liquitex Art Prize 2014 Grand Prix.
