Born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1980. After graduating from the Ècole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) in 2004, Party received his MFA at The Glasgow School of Art in 2009. He currently lives and works in New York. His work spans a wide range of media, including murals, sculptures, paintings, and performances, as well as curating exhibitions. He is most well-known for his soft pastel paintings of fantastical figures and landscapes. While referencing art historical expressions such as Renaissance painting and 19th-century Romanticism, he continues to present works that question the nature of painting itself. His major solo exhibitions at institutions including Museum Frieder Burda (Baden-Baden) in 2023, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in 2022, Hirshhorn Museum (Washington DC) from 2021 to 2022, Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp (Cully, Switzerland) in 2021, and Musée Magritte Museum (Brussels) in 2018. His works are held in the collections of institutions such as Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), Hirshhorn Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), M+ (Hong Kong), and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
