1969年、島根県生まれ。1992年、武蔵野美術大学造形学部油画科を卒業。絵画、彫刻、音楽活動など表現領域は広い。胎児を思わせる大きな頭、曲がりくねった手足。加藤の絵画や彫刻は極めて強い具象性を伴いながらおよそ写実的ではなく、その呪術的あるいは原始的ともとれる強烈な表現力によって生命の諸相についてを想像させる。主な個展に、2022年ワタリウム美術館(東京)、2021年SCAD美術館(サヴァンナ, USA)、2019年原美術館アーク(群馬)、2019年Fundación Casa Wabi(プエルト・エスコンディド, メキシコ)、2008年上野の森美術館(東京)、2001年水戸芸術館など。2022年ハワイ・トリエンナーレ(USA)、2021-22年Reborn Art Festival(石巻市)、2007年第52回ヴェネチアビエンナーレ(イタリア館)などの国際展での展示がある。東京国立近代美術館、国立国際美術館、東京都現代美術館、熊本市現代美術館、豊田市美術館、金沢21世紀美術館などが作品を収蔵している。
