This large-scale work is named after the goddess who presides over divine retribution. It features a large flesh-toned circle, beneath which red and black lines intertwine into a clustered form. A figure resembling the human body seems to emerge, though its form remains uncertain. In the lower left, the ancient Greek word “θραῦσμα” (fragment, shard) is written. What is shattered by divine retribution is none other than the arrogance that lies darkly in the depths of the human heart. In this work, Cooke draws widely on human knowledge, ranging from mythology to the natural sciences.
