This is a vessel made of glass and copper. It departs from the fundamental principles of ceramics, in which clay is kneaded and fired. Yasunaga has succeeded in a unique technique of making glaze viscous through his own formulation and hand-moulding it, creating an expression only he can achieve. In this work, the glassy material stands independently as a vessel-like form without relying on any support. It softly transmits light, holding traces of white and pale blue glow within. Yielding to heat and gravity, the entire form tilts diagonally, while its mouth melts and spreads outward in all directions. The solidified form appears to have been forged through intense heat and is inscribed with the single character “砕” (crumbling).
