A transparent, jelly-like tubular material coils around a circular monitor screen in concentric circles, resembling tree rings. Although a video plays on the screen, the image is obscured and distorted as light is diffused through the layers of transparent ridges, making it indistinct. Through vivid video works and installations, Rist prompts a reconsideration of the world through the body and five senses, how it is received. As suggested by the symbolic title, one might simply surrender to the vortex of light and indulge in a quiet dialogue with the comets.
