Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture has long been one of Gate's bases for his ceramic practice, and in recent years he has produced numerous teabowls and flower vessels. In 2026, his project "Chawan Cabinet" with Prada was presented at the brand’s flagship store in Milan. Curated and conceived by Gates, the project created an exhibition space centered on tea bowls together with ceramic artists he has befriended in Tokoname. This work was fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln, resulting in a distinctive cross-shaped pattern emerging around the body.
