This is an early work by Aoshima that was created using Bézier curves, a computer graphics technique that allows free-form curves to be drawn by manipulating several control points. The composition is a woman bathing in a hot spring in the center, with flowers and grasses in the foreground and mountain ranges and the night sky in the distance. The arrangement creates a layered, ukiyo-e-like composition of foreground, middle ground, and background. A dragonfly rests on the tip of a slender leaf that droops in a supple arc. The ends of the woman’s gathered hair appear damp, while the silhouettes of the mountains rise and fall in broad undulations. Elegant curves overlap and intertwine throughout the composition.
