Title: Red Raku Tea Bowl named “Chiyo no Tomo”
Born in 1817 in Tanba Province, now part of Kameoka, Kyoto Prefecture, Raku Keinyū XI was adopted into the Raku family as the son-in-law of Raku Tannyû X. He succeeded to the name Kichizaemon XI in 1845 and took the name Keinyū upon retirement in 1871. Working through the transition from the late Edo period to the Meiji era, he produced tea bowls, tea utensils, and sculptural objects. He died in 1902.
