Title: Pair of Tea Bowls, “Pine and Longevity”: Tea Bowl with the Character “Longevity” in Red Overglaze Enamel / Kenzan-style Tea Bowl with Old Pine Tree Design
Born in Kyoto in 1917, Eiraku Sokuzen XVI was the eldest son of Eiraku Shozen XV and succeeded to the name Eiraku Zengoro XVI in 1935. The Eiraku family is one of the Senke Jusshoku lineages, serving as makers of earthen braziers and ceramics. He produced richly decorated tea wares using underglaze blue, overglaze enamels, kinrande, kōchi, and shonzui techniques. He died in 1998.
