Title: Tea Bowl, Hagi Ware, Ido Type
Born in Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture, in 1925, Tahara Tohbe XII was the second son of Tahara Tohbe X. After returning from military service, he continued the family kiln and succeeded to the name Tahara Tohbe XII in 1956. He carried forward the soft glaze tones and unadorned tea-ceramic tradition of Hagi ware. In 1981, he was designated a holder of the Intangible Cultural Property of Hagi Ware by Yamaguchi Prefecture. He died in 1991.
