Title: Tea Bowl
Born in Kyoto in 1949, Raku Jikinyū XV is the eldest son of Raku Kakunyû XIV. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1973, he studied in Italy. He succeeded as Raku Kichizaemon XV in 1981 and took the name Jikinyū after passing the Kichizaemon name to his eldest son in 2019. His work combines the Raku tradition with bold trimming, yakinuki firing, and a sculptural, contemporary approach.
